What We Call Love
What We Call Love is a thesis about the invisibility of domestic labor in India. About how calling it love instead of work makes it unremarkable, unmeasurable, and impossible to refuse. The work spans a typeface, a publication, a stop motion film, a series of pressure cooker illustrations, visual explorations using text, and a thesis book. Each piece approaches the same question from a different angle: what does it cost a woman to be endlessly available, and what gets lost when no one calls it work?
