LIAVH
A brand identity for an archaeological research lab, built around the idea of sediment, layering, and how knowledge accumulates over time.
LIAVH is the Laboratory for Integrated Archaeological Visualization and Heritage. The mark draws from horizontal sediment lines, referencing how meaning builds gradually through layers of history. These lines also represent the lab's ethical commitments: feminist-queer, decolonial, anti-racist, care-centered, and anti-caste. Sitting together as strata, reflecting practices that build collectively.
Each line shifts slightly within the structure, introducing plurality and resisting a single fixed narrative. The same idea carries into the logotype, where letters are subtly adjusted to echo the irregularity of the layered lines.
The system is structured but not rigid. Meaning emerges through accumulation, not through a singular form.
